Commercial enterprises, NGOs, landowners and tenants can insure their establishments against physical damage through disaster loans. Registrations are open at the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) until December 10.
The counties included under the disaster loan assistance program include
- New Haven County
- Fairfield
- Hartford
- Litchfield
- Middlesex
The loan assistance has an upper limit of $2 million to cover damages to property, resources and other infrastructural entities.
SBA is making this disaster loan facility available at highly subsidized interest rates:
- Commercial – 3.61
- Private NGO – 2.5
- Individual – 1.938
The tenure can extend up to 30 years. SBA carefully considers each disaster loan petitioner’s profile and history before granting assistance. The Electronic Loan Application (ELA) feature on SBA’s website DisasterLoan.sba.gov can be used for registering through the internet.
