Computer Lounge, a web based shop for computer components with its main office at Auckland, suffered a major compromise in a cyber security breach. The system was alleged to have been vulnerable for a prolonged period of time. Nevertheless, the loophole hadn’t been exploited until now. It is suspected that personal details of customers might have been leaked, which could lead to identity theft or sale on cyber crime markets. Nevertheless, the company officials have confirmed that credit card and password information were not leaked.
A squad of data forensics specialists is currently evaluating the magnitude of the cyber security breach that has been effectuated. The company has issued a public notice taking full accountability for the situation. Meanwhile, the website is being revamped with more robust and resilient solutions.
